KARACHI: On order of the Supreme Court, demolition work on Tejori Heights is underway in Gulshan e Iqbal area of Karachi.

Gulshan e Iqbal Assistant Commissioner Abdul Sattar Hakro on Saturday said complete demolition of Tejori Heights and cleanliness of the ground would be completed within few days.

He said structure of the first floor of the project had been dismantled and the process of cutting of its pillars was underway. Debris of the building was also being removed from the site, he maintained.

A day ago, the apex court had ordered to tear down the illegal construction and remove its foundation and debris in 20 days. Unlike Nasla Tower, Tejori Heights was an under-construction project.

Counsel of the builders of Tejori Heights said his clients had dismantled the building themselves and were compensating the 99 allottees.

On November 26, police had baton-charged protestors holding a sit-in demonstration called by the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) against the demolishment of Nasla Tower.

The Nasla Tower is being razed to the ground on the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed has ordered the city’s commissioner to demolish the entire building and present a report on it within a week’s time.
