KARACHI: At least three people were killed and nine others wounded in a road accident near Landhi Bacha Jail on Monday in Karachi.

Rescue sources said the coaster van was carrying employees of a private van that turned turtle after colliding with a passenger bus. The deceased and injured have been shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem and treatment respectively, they said.

The sources said the identification process of the victims was under way.

The Landhi superintendent police said the victims belonged to the same company and the incident happed when they were going to the office.

On November 25, at least two people traveling to Iran were killed in a road accident on the Northern Bypass in Karachi.

The passenger bus, which collided with a truck, was carrying mostly pilgrims. The mishap had left one man and one woman dead and 12 others wounded. Officials from the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital had said that the dead bodies and injured were brought to the hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment respectively.

Both the deceased could not be identified, however, the injured had been identified as Ghulam Ali, 25, Mureed Ali, 45, Ms Khursheed, 45, Aamna, 17, Azhar Mehdi, 21, Ms Namja, 62, Taqi, 70, Sabeeqa Abbas, 56, Ms Rana Zaidi, 45, Aale Raza and Ms Shabana, 48. A 45-year-old critically injured also could not be identified.
