WASHINGTON: The United States (US) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a ‘Level One’ COVID-19 advisory for US citizens travelling to Pakistan, symbolising that the danger of contracting and spreading the Covid-19 is significantly lower if a person is fully vaccinated.

“Your risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorized vaccine. Before planning any international travel, please review the CDC’s specific recommendations for vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers,” said the statement issued by the US Department of State on Tuesday.

The US CDC categorised India for level one travel too.

Earlier, the US agency had placed Pakistan on the Level 2 ‘Medium’ threat list, while the UK removed Pakistan from the High-Risk Red List in September.

According to the limited details available on the CDC’s website, there are four types of health notices that can be issued by the U.S. Institute of Higher Health: Level 4: Extreme, Level 3: High, Level 2: Medium and Level 1: low.

The travel notice comes with a warning that “make sure you are fully vaccinated before travelling to Pakistan.”

The CDC’s website states that “travellers in Pakistan must adhere to the recommendations or requirements, which include wearing a mask and keeping a distance of 6 feet from others.”

According to official figures compiled by Pakistan’s National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 216 new coronavirus cases and six deaths have been recorded in Pakistan in the last 24 hours.

Statistics show that 1101 patients are still in critical care.

The NCOC meeting on Monday called for accelerating the process of giving a second dose of vaccine to eligible people so that the population’s immune system can be significantly enhanced for long-term gain.
