KARACHI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Thursday conducted a raid at the Karachi seaport on a tip-off and recovered 96 kilogramme drugs.

The ANF spokesperson said the drugs were adeptly concealed in towels. He said the drugs were booked in the name of an exporter identified as Cargo IB Trader. The cargo was being sent to Ontario, Canada, he said.

The spokesperson said all the suspected goods were confiscated and investigation was launched into the incident.

On October 13, the ANF had foiled an attempt to smuggle heroin from the Islamabad International Airport.

According to the ANF officials, more than four kg of heroin, concealed at the bottom of a bag, was recovered from the luggage of a passenger when it was searched.

The passenger was en route to Bahrain through a private airline. He was later sent to an undisclosed place for further investigation, said the ANF.

Meanwhile, a case was also registered against the suspect.

Earlier on September 28, the ANF had seized over 1,600-kg of drugs worth $478.271 million during multiple operations conducted across the country.

At least 30 people, including three foreigners, were also arrested, according to the ANF officials.
