KARACHI: A sessions court of Malir on Wednesday directed the investigation officer (IO) in the Nazim Jokhio murder case to present the postmortem and final investigation report of the case in the next hearing.

According to the interim investigation report presented by the IO Siraj Lashari the bloodstains on the baton and blanket found from the place of the incident had matched with samples of deceased Nazim Jokhio.

Nazim Sajawal Jokhio’s tortured body was found at the Jam House, said to be owned by MPA Jam Awais, in Jam Goth on November 3, 2021.

The victim’s brother Afzal Jokhio had nominated MPA Awais, his younger brother MNA Jam Abdul Karim and others for being involved in the murder of his 27-year-old brother. The victim was murdered for reportedly trying to prevent the lawmaker’s guests from hunting the houbara bustard in the Thatta district.

However, Afzal later in his 164 CrPC statement withdrew charges against Jam Abdul Karim.

According to the interim investigation report, chemical analysis of the samples of the deceased did not find any proof of poisoning.

Additional district and sessions judge-I (ADJ-I) Malir Naveed Ahmed Soomro heard bail applications of accused Salim Salar, Dodo Khan, Muhammad Soomar and Ishaq Jokhio, who had earlier got interim bails, and reserved his order on the confirmation or otherwise of their bail.

Member Sindh Assembly Jam Awais Jokhio was not brought to court from jail as he was attending the Sindh Assembly session for which his production orders were issued earlier.

Counsel for the complainant informed the court that the prime accused Jam Abdul Karaim and Niaz Salar had fled the country.

The IO submitted that to ascertain the real fact he had officially written in this regard to Federal Investigation Agency.

The court directing the IO to submit the final investigation report deferred further proceedings till December 16.
