KARACHI: Mutthaida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan on Wednesday announced to convene an All Parties Conference on December 11 to lodge its protest against the new local bodies system passed by the Sindh Assembly.

Speaking in a press conference at the party’s temporary headquarters at Bahadurabad, the MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party has completely handicapped the urban Sindh with the introduction of the new local bodies laws.

“We question the judiciary why it isn’t taking any action. The PPP has adopted the vision of Sindhudesh. We are the only opposition against it,” he said. “You are making us unemployed, bringing down our homes, barring us admissions in academic institutions, why can’t we ask that why Article -140 of the constitution is not being implemented.”

Siddiqui said that how can the people of Karachi allow that an institution made from their blood and sweat handed over to a racist government. “We are now thinking of living on roads. Why isn’t Chief Justice taking suo motto notice on it.”

The administration of Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur is virtually suspended, he said before adding that the Sindh is a multi-ethnic province it shouldn’t be put under imposition of one ethnicity.

“Through fake domiciles over one million jobs have been handed over to one ethnicity,” he said. “We have called for this conference to save Karachi. No one can stand before the people of Karachi if they come out for protests.”
