ISLAMABAD: The government will launch ‘Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive’ in Islamabad on Monday, to revive sports culture for producing national heroes, Radio Pakistan reported.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the drive at Jinnah Stadium Sports Complex, Islamabad.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar said this would be the biggest sports programme in the country’s history that would enable active participation of the youth in healthy physical activities.

He said under its first phase, 12 different games for male and 10 for female would be arranged across 25 regions under the talent hunt programme. The age bracket for the both the categories would be 11 to 25 years.

On December 4, Prime Minister Imran Khan had reiterated that the provision of sports facilities to youth was one of the top priorities of the government.

“The government is focused to provide sports facilities to youth,” the premier had said while chairing a high-level meeting on the National Sports Policy and Overhauling of Sports Governance Structure in Islamabad.

He had said that by increasing sports participation, the government was firm in its resolve to tap the potential of Pakistani youth.
