KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo has said that due to incompetence and flawed policies of the federal government, industries in Sindh are in dire straits and facing gas shortages.

Sindh should be provided its share of gas so that the wheel of industries can continue running, he said, while addressing a meeting with the representatives of the business community at his office.

Representatives of business community Zubair Motiwala, Saleem Parekh, Mohammad Idrees, A Q Khalil and Sindh Information secretary and acting secretary of Industries and Commerce Rashid Solangi were also present in the meeting.

Dharejo also said that the problems of the business community would be resolved on a priority basis. Sewerage, water, infrastructure and other issues were being addressed in the industrial zones, he said, adding: “We are also working on a priority basis to eliminate encroachments from the industrial zones.”

The minister expressed concern over the increase in fire incidents in various markets of the city and urged the businessmen to play their due role in preventing such incidents.
