Skardu Airport started international flights from Thursday to promote tourism.
In a tweet, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said initially the operations will be under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) only.
Under the VFR, an aircraft is operated in visual meteorological conditions, which means nice and clear weather.
Clouds, heavy precipitation, low visibility and other adverse weather conditions are avoided under these rules.

“In line with the PM’s Vision Master Plan to promote tourism across the country, Skardu Airport starts operating as an international airport from December 2. Initially, the operations will be under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) only,” the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority tweeted.

On November 24, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) had approved the projects of satellite technology, communication, power and education.
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin had chaired the Ecnec meeting.

The meeting had given go-ahead to the Sambrial-Kharian Motorway project submitted by the Ministry of Communication along with the directives to the National Highway Authority (NHA) to present the progress on development of the business model to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet.
