Around 8 p.m. Wednesday, officials say, a person was shot at rapper DaBaby’s apartment.

The incident happened at 135 Stillwater Road in Troutman, according to the Troutman Police Department, and one individual was hurt by a single gunshot wound.

The individual’s injuries did not seem to be life threatening, and the TPD believes no danger to the community exists.
In a published 911 conversation, the unidentified caller informs the operator that he shot a trespasser in the leg.

“Sir, what did you do?” inquires the operator.

“I shot him in the leg,” the caller said.

“All right, and why did you do that?” Operator:

“He is intruding on my land and addressing me by name.” I’m not sure what he’s here for, what he’s here to take, or what he’s here to do, but he’s shot in the leg and rendered immobile until you guys arrive.”

According to the Troutman Police chief, DaBaby was at home during the incident when an unknown shooter entered the property but left unharmed. According to police, the victim had to climb the property’s high walls in order to enter. The victim was neither a visitor or a resident of the facility, and at this time, no charges have been filed.

Troutman Police Department published the 911 call from the incident along with the accompanying statement:

According to North Carolina General Statute 132-1.4 (c)(4), the contents of “911” and other emergency telephone calls received by or on behalf of public law enforcement agencies, except for those that reveal the caller’s natural voice, name, address, telephone number, or other information that could be used to identify the caller, victim, or witness. To protect the complaining witness’s identity, the contents of “911” and other emergency telephone calls may be released pursuant to this section in the form of a written transcript or altered voice reproduction; provided, however, that the original shall be made available under process for use as evidence in any relevant civil or criminal proceeding.
