An Indian aviation body has ordered 90 SpiceJet pilots to undergo mandatory training before they may fly Boeing 737 Max aircraft, according to local media reports.

Simulator training was flagged as a problem by the watchdog.

“For the time being, these pilots are unable to fly Max unless they complete a thorough retraining programme. We’ll punish anybody found to be accountable for the error harshly “Director Arun Kumar of the DGCA was cited in a statement as saying.

Additionally, SpiceJet spokespersons have verified to local media that DGCA has prohibited 90 pilots from flying the Max jets, which the carrier has purchased from Boeing.

“Over 650 pilots have received training on the Boeing 737 Max, according to SpiceJet. SpiceJet has limited the use of the Max aircraft by 90 pilots until completion of DGCA-approved retraining. This decision was made after the DGCA made a remark about the training profile followed by those pilots.

This group of pilots is still available to fly additional Boeing 737s “According to the spokesperson’s words, The Max aircraft is unaffected by this limitation.

Currently, SpiceJet has 11 Max planes in service, and roughly 144 pilots are needed to fly these planes.
More than half of the 650 Max-trained crew members are still on hand more than the present demanda spokeswoman stated.
Only SpiceJet operates the Max aircraft in the Indian market.
