Punjab Government challenged the session court verdict in Lahore High Court

LAHORE: Justice Jawad Hassan of Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to take oath to Chief Minister Punjab-elect Hamza Shehbaz at 11:30am on Saturday.

Earlier, the LHC on Friday reversed verdict regarding the third time petition filed by Chief Minister Punjab-elect Hamza Shehbaz.

Hamza Shehbaz approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) for the third time for his oath administration.

As per sources privy to the matter, the court has fixed the hearing for the third petition filed by Hamza Shehbaz.

The Ministry of Law and Justice and the Punjab Government have been made parties in the petition.

The petition holds that LHC has already issued orders in regards to the oath administration while Governor Punjab is once again refusing to comply with the court orders.

“The attitude of the President and the Governor of Punjab is treacherous and insulting,” the petition read.

It was also said that the high court cannot be obstructed from taking action against the unconstitutional behavior of the President and the Governor.

Earlier, the LHC issued ordered Governor Punjab Omar Sarfaraz Cheema to administer the oath of CM-elect Hamza Shehbaz utmost by Thursday or to nominate someone for the purpose.

“It is suggested / advised / proposed that Governor shall ensure the completion of the process of administration of oath of Chief Minister Punjab, either himself or through his nominee, in terms of Article 255 of the Constitution, on or before 28.04.2022,” read the short order.

The court also said that President Arif Alvi should partake in the oath administration as per the constitution.
