Representative Madison Cawthorn was penalized for having a loaded gun at a North Carolina airport on Tuesday, the second time he has been caught with a firearm in an airport since last year, according to authorities. The loaded Staccato 9mm handgun was discovered in Cawthorn’s backpack during security screening at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Cawthorn was “cooperative” with officers at the scene and claimed ownership of the gun, which was confiscated as part of standard practice, according to a series of tweets from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The weapon was discovered at 9 a.m. at Checkpoint D, according to the outlet. According to the agency, the North Carolina Republican was cited for having a hazardous weapon on city grounds. He was released, and the gun was confiscated by police.

According to cops, it is a usual procedure not to arrest a passenger on misdemeanor offenses “unless there are other linked criminal charges or extenuating circumstances. The loaded gun was photographed by WSOC-TV and recognized as a 9mm.

Cawthorn, 26, was arrested in February 2021 when he attempted to board an airplane in Asheville with a 9mm pistol and a loaded magazine in his carry-on luggage, according to WLOS. The Glock handgun was confiscated by security, but the congressman was permitted to board the plane, according to the Observer.

Cawthorn, who was elected in 2020, recently enraged colleagues by comparing DC to Netflix’s hit political series “House of Cards,” claiming that the nation’s capital is full of cocaine-fueled orgies.

Washington’s sexual depravity. “I mean, being a young man in Washington, where the average age is probably 60 or 70 — [you] look at all these individuals, a lot of them who I’ve looked up to throughout my life, I’ve always paid attention to politics,” Cawthorn said.

“Then you are invited: ‘We’re going to have a sexual get-together at one of our homes; you should come.’ ‘What did you just ask me to come to?’ “And then you realize they’re inviting you to come to an orgy,” he explained.
