ISLAMABAD: In an unprecedented and surprising move, Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri rejected the no-confidence motion presented against Prime Minister Imran on the grounds of being contrary to the Article (5) of the constitution of Pakistan.
The deputy speaker has adjourned the session till April 25. The opposition lawmakers surrounded the speaker dais in protest over his ruling.
After a delay of over half an hour, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry started the session with a lambasting speech, alleging the opposition members to be involved in a foreign conspiracy to change the government.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to speak to the nation via national television today.

Meanwhile, sn hour before the commencement of national assembly session scheduled to vote on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a surprising move, the opposition parties submitted a vote of no-confidence against Speaker Asad Qaiser.
With the motion against him submitted in the National Assembly secretariat, Qaiser was not be constitutionally mandated to chair the session on no-confidence motion against PM Imran.
The voting on no-confidence motion on Speaker will be held on the next assembly session.
