The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday announced the schedule of phase-1 of the local government elections in Punjab where polls are going to be held on May 29.

According to the schedule issued by the ECP, nomination papers can be submitted from April 21 to April 25. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be held from April 27 to May 9.

Similarly, appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers will be filed from May 10 to 12 which will be disposed of by May 14.

According to the ECP, nomination papers can be withdrawn till May 19 whereas election symbols will be allotted on May 20.

In the first phase, elections will be held in DG Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Khanewal, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Sialkot, Khushab, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum and Attock districts.
