According to her mother, a 12-year-old rape victim committed herself immediately after an interview with a police officer who had earlier discouraged her from filing a criminal complaint and then failed to properly investigate it.

Semina Halliwell, an autistic girl, said she was raped by an older male who went to the same school as her and manipulated her into covertly meeting him via Snapchat.

Semina’s mother, Rachel Halliwell, called the cops when she broke down and told her what had happened after a major self-harm event.

However, investigators from Merseyside Police “made Semina feel like she was an inconvenience to them,” according to two family members present during questioning, and no charges have been filed against the suspected offender who Semina mentioned.

The lead detective “sat there and started talking about all the papers he’d have to put in if she filed the complaint and how long it would take him to complete those forms in,” according to Rachel and Semina’s aunt Clare Halliwell.

– Discouraged –

According to Clare, the detective “stated to Semina that, you know, basically, it’s your word against his and do you really want this hanging over your head for 18 months, since it wouldn’t get to court for 18 months to two years.”

Semina’s autism has already made it difficult for her to communicate with strangers, they claimed.

The family informed a News agency that despite assurances from Merseyside Police that safeguards would be put in place, Merseyside Police did not notify Semina’s school about the suspected rape. As a result, she was compelled to remain at home since she was not shielded from interaction with the suspected culprit.

– Harassment –

Following the initial interview, Semina and her family, including a sibling, were subjected to a campaign of online and offline bullying and witness intimidation, including several violent assaults, which the family believes were committed by associates of the alleged perpetrator and which Merseyside Police also failed to fully investigate.

“They told everyone who goes to the police will have their brains kicked in. That is exactly what occurred. Semina was beaten up three times, each time being videoed, and her [sibling] was beaten up at school “Rachel stated.

According to the family, only two females were prosecuted for attacking Semina during this time period. They claimed that other events were not thoroughly probed.

Rachel was also found guilty of an attack that occurred shortly after Semina named the suspected culprit. The news channel is unable to name the victim due to legal constraints.

“Despite the fact that there were recordings on social media showing [Semina] getting beaten up, the cops did nothing. ‘Well, things have quietened down now, so if I walk around, it may start all over again,’ replied the officer, the detective “Rachel elaborated.

– Final interview –

Three months after filing the original complaint, Semina stated, “I’ve had enough of this,” and went upstairs during another interview in the family’s living room about the rape and harassment.

“I felt she’d had enough of the cops being here and doing nothing,” her mother reasoned at the time.

Semina, on the other hand, had gone to take the prescription that would kill her, ingesting far more than the deadly amount of a hazardous substance designed to treat a chronic disease.

The family discovered the empty pharmaceutical packets after the police had departed, and Semina was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. She would be placed in an induced coma for a few days before succumbing to multiple organ failure.

“It was heartbreaking to witness my daughter’s death. It was horrific what she had to go through, three heart attacks, surgery, they were going to amputate her legs and fingers “Rachel said.

“People tend to believe that if you take an overdose, you would go to sleep and die. She didn’t, she didn’t. She didn’t do it at all. We had to stand by and watch her die, as her body shut down first. That is something no parent should have to go through.”

“We had the medical personnel bawling all around us,” Clare explained. “I remember [the consultant] coming to me and sobbing through his spectacles, and I don’t remember how long they were there, I just remember that she was warm when I first touched her, but then she turned cold, cold, cold, and she started to go blue.”

“No one claimed she died. Nobody informed us. Nobody was able to utter it.”
