Rebel Wilson, although being a self-proclaimed excellent student in high school — and a bookworm and basketball captain to boot — lived true to her moniker by being “a little bit naughty.” What exactly are we talking about when we say we’re being cheeky?
According to the anecdote, she told talk show host Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday night, she was cheeky enough to make a teacher weep. Because there was a boys school next door, I would plan the escapes at the boarding home “Wilson elaborated. “We had bars on our windows since we went to an excellent Christian school. Then I’d organize the escapes to go. I’d figure out all the alarm passcodes, like, ‘let’s go, let’s go.’ Then there was the time I locked a teacher in a cupboard for four hours.
Wilson’s motivation for doing so at the time? “She was a terrible instructor!” It was excellent retaliation!
The Pitch Perfect star detailed how the prank came about, recounting how she persuaded her instructor there was something in the cupboard, shoved her in, and closed the door – for four hours. “I realize it’s a little off… “I feel a little awful now,” Wilson admitted, revealing that her instructor sobbed.
But, like any good student who pulls off a clever trick, she escaped unnoticed. Mostly because of her classmates’ allegiance, who may have known that one day she would go on national television and call them out for abandoning her.
“She could never identify which girl shoved her in,” Wilson explained. “So they arranged us in a line and asked, ‘Which one was it?’ ‘Don’t say anything, people!’ I say. ‘Stop saying anything!’ Then no one came forward to accuse me.”Wilson is presently starring in Senior Year as a popular cheerleader who awakens from a 20-year coma and resolves to complete high school. According to what she told Kimmel, she related to the part because of her own high school experiences.
“I was elected deputy head girl, which is kind of like the second most popular girl at school,” Wilson explained, explaining why her friends didn’t tell on her and why she appeared on the front cover of the yearbook revealed during the interview.
Wilson’s tale begins around the 5:30 minute in the interview above.
