As the sun sets on the French capital, supporters of Emmanuel Macron celebrate their candidate’s triumph in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

DJs were spinning dance music, giving the impression that the Champ de Mars had been transformed into a nightclub.

When the clock struck 8 p.m. local time, everyone erupted in joyous cheers as Macron’s image appeared on the screen as the election’s victor.

Supporters leapt up and down in a sea of French and EU flags, screaming Macron’s campaign slogan, “One, two, and five more years.”

Despite losing the presidential election to Emmanuel Macron, Marine Le Pen has hinted that her far-right movement has a solid foundation on which to develop for the future, with roughly 42 percent of French voters supporting her.

At her concession speech, Le Pen said that the “game is not quite over since in a few weeks the legislative elections will take place.”

She added: “Tonight we launch the great battle of the legislative elections… with all those who have the nation at heart… I will never give up on the French.”

Even as she celebrated her “historic score” in the French presidential election, Marine Le Pen admitted loss in the second round.

“A great wind of freedom could have blown over our country, the fate of the ballot box wanted otherwise.”-Marine Le Pen
