An Arizona road rage suspect was arrested on Wednesday, four days after dashcam footage reportedly showed him getting out of his car and pointing a pistol at another vehicle near Phoenix. The horrifying footage purportedly shows Bryan Duran getting out of his vehicle and going up to the suspected victim, Francisco Garcia, with his revolver pointed to the locked driver’s side window.
The dashcam then purportedly showed Duran aiming the handgun towards Garcia’s face through the glass. “F***ing stop that s*** m*****f*****, f***ing stop that s***,” he yells, his pistol still drawn. He then shifts the rifle to his weaker hand before striking the glass multiple times.
Duran was arrested and placed in jail on an aggravated assault charge on Wednesday, according to the Avondale Police Department, while the investigation into the incident continues. The event occurred on May 7 at 5 p.m. near McDowell Road and Avondale Boulevard.
Garcia stated that he was driving when another car began to slip into his lane. According to Fox 10, he hurried up and merged into the lane he thought the suspect was exiting. Duran apparently became enraged after believing Garcia had cut him off. Garcia wanted to take down the Duran’s license plate, so both men pulled over.
Duran is also accused of assaulting Garcia before he returned to his car.
According to a report issued in April by the non-profit group Everytown Research & Policy, 2021 was one of the worst years on record for road rage-related shootings, with over 500 individuals shot and either injured or killed in over 700 instances throughout the country.
