In a recent interview with David Letterman for his Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Cardi B explained why she shared her “political convictions” with her followers.

During an interview with the host, the rapper stated that her fans look up to her in both fashion and music.

“I mean, I’m a ghetto chick from the Bronx.” “A lot of people connect to me and follow me because they want to see how I dress and how I live,” the 29-year-old explained.

Because the singer-songwriter recognised her power, she decided to speak publicly about her political views on social media.

“I feel like I have a responsibility to communicate with them things like, ‘Hey, while you’re here and looking out my outfit and checking out my music, check out what’s going on over here in this area of the globe,'” she said.

“I don’t really put a lot of political topics in my songs,” the Ring singer said, “but I use the (expletive) out of my platform.” And I’ve exploited my platform even as a dancer. Because you may believe that no one is looking, but they are.”

Previously, the WAP singer used her platform to address social and political concerns. Last month, she encouraged her followers to speak out against sexual misconduct in a series of tweets commemorating Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Meanwhile, Cardi’s January tweets demanding justice for late influencer Lauren Smith-Fields sparked an official criminal inquiry into the matter.
