Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has refused to pursue a money-laundering trial against Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Hamza Shehbaz, Bol News reported on Thursday.

The court has incorporated the FIA’s prosecution team’s application as a part of the case record. Special Judge Central Aijaz Hasan Awan has issued the detailed order on the prosecutor’s plea.

The order said that the FIA’s Special Prosecutor Zulqarnain Saleem filed an application after the hearing on April 11, showing disinterest in pursuing the trial against both suspects.

The application submitted in the court said that the concerned officials showed disinterest in continuing the money-laundering trial against Shehbaz and Hamza after both of them assumed the public office.

Notably, Shehbaz and Hamza were to be indicted in the case on April 27 but it was later postponed till May 14 after interim bails of both suspects were extended till the given date.
