ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan demanded the Supreme Court (SC) take notice of the denotification of Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman reprimanded the decision to remove Cheema from his office. He demanded immediate action by SC in regard to the cabinet division notification.

He termed the decision as a blatant violation of the Constitution and law in Punjab.

PTI supremo said that a puppet Chief Minister was imposed on the province and now imported puppets have been fomenting constitutional anarchy and chaos in Punjab.

Imran Khan also said that the decision has been taken in a very embarrassing manner and the attempt has been an insult to the President of Pakistan as he already rejected the advice to remove Omar  Cheema from his post.

He opined that it was imperative that the Supreme Court, in view of the delicacy of the situation, should look into the matter on its own and bring the issue of conscientious objectors in Punjab to an immediate conclusion.

Earlier, in a late-night notification by the cabinet division, Governor Punjab Omar Sarfraz Cheema was removed from his post.

As per the notification, Speaker Pervaiz Elahi will take charge as the acting governor till the new appointment.
