Susan Rice, the White House domestic policy advisor, said Monday that she had tested positive for Covid-19, making her the second high-ranking Biden administration official to develop the coronavirus.

Rice claimed she last met President Joe Biden five days before her diagnosis, but that their meeting was veiled and that they were not close friends. She has gotten two booster vaccinations and is completely immunized.

Reporters and workers from CNN, ABC News, NBC News, CBS News, Politico, and other participating news organizations tested positive for the virus in the days following the event.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and White House press secretary Jen Psaki have all tested positive in recent months.

Officials from the White House have admitted that the President may contract Covid-19 at some time, but have underlined the steps being taken to avoid infection. According to Psaki, the White House is also not considering reverting to pandemic-era limitations.
