The White House denies supporting free crack pipes, calling it a “conspiracy myth.”

Jen Psaki, White House press secretary, denied on Thursday that government funds are being used to buy safe-smoking kits that include crack pipes.

“There has been no government financing allocated to it,” Psaki stated during her regular news briefing. “This regulation does not permit the inclusion of crack pipes.”

“I’d just like to point out that this is a bit of a conspiracy idea that’s been floating around,” she continued. “It’s not correct. There are essential drug treatment programs for persons who have been affected by what has become a national epidemic. And there is no money for crack pipes.”

Psaki’s statement follows a Washington Free Beacon article that discovered safe smoking kits with crack pipes in Boston, New York City, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Richmond, Va.

Following an earlier Free Beacon story, the Health and Human Services (HHS) Department said last month that crack pipes will not be included in its $30 million harm-reduction funding program.

Psaki claimed last month that the reporting was incorrect and that crack pipes were never included in the smoking kits, despite the fact that the Free Beacon quoted an HHS spokesman who confirmed that the kits would include pipes for users to smoke crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and “any illicit substance.”
