PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz critically injured in car accident

NAROWAL: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Daniyal Aziz was critically injured in a road accident in Shakargarh in Punjab’s Narowal district

According to reports, Daniyal Aziz’s car was struck by a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction near Bhanja Stop after its tyre burst.

Rescue officials said a man travelling in the truck died on the spot while three others sustained injuries have have been moved to hospital.

Aziz was driving the car himself which has been completely damaged. He has been shifted to DHQ Hospital Narowal for treatment.

Daniyal Aziz has fractured one of his arms in the horrific crash while another hands has also been injured. A footage of the incident shows the bloodied politician being taken into an ambulance.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incident and prayed for the speedy recovery of the party leader.

The prime minister called Aziz’s wife to inquire about the PML-N leader’s health. He directed authorities to take measures for the Aziz’s treatment.

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz ordered to provide Aziz with all kinds of medical facilities. He has also summoned a report from the Gujranwala Commissioner and the regional police officer regarding the accident.

Daniyal Aziz was elected to the National Assembly from NA-116 Narowal-II constituency in the 2013 general elections. He served as Minister for Privatizations in Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s cabinet.

In June 2018, he was disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a contempt of court case and was barred from contesting in the 2018 general election.
