Why do Pakistani film makers keep their budgets hidden

For some years, the Pakistani film industry has been on the mend. For two years, things went downhill owing to Covid, but the theaters are finally open and the movies are back.

This Eid al Fitr, however, there was stiff competition, with five films premiering at the same time.

When Dr. Strange was released, things got a little tangled, and the Pakistani filmmakers lost a lot of money.

For some years, Pakistan’s film industry has been reviving. For two years, everything went downhill because of Covid, but the theaters are now open and movies are once again showing.

Despite the fact that several films had enormous box office success, producers wanted Dr. Strange removed from theaters because they were reportedly losing money.

This raised the question of how much money, however, on Pakistani films’ budgets. In Pakistan, unlike, Hollywood and Bollywood, budgets often concealed from the public view and rarely revealed.

With two major Pakistani films about to enter theaters, Mooroo posed the issue to famous directors Fizza Ali Meerza and Nabeel Qureshi.

They said that budgets aren’t disclosed since those who aren’t involved in the film industry don’t grasp the arithmetic.

When it comes to the business, Fizza and Nabeel say that a picture needs to make three times its budget in order to be profitable.

To break even, you must make twice as much. Nabeel Qureshi also mentioned that a film’s business includes a lot more than just ticket sales, such as television and music rights.
