On December 13, Heritage Auctions will open Hollywood & Entertainment Signature Action, its most prestigious auction to date, featuring more than 400 props, costumes, and vehicles from blockbusters.

The shield used by Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers during the filming of Avengers: Endgame is one of the historical props that will be on display at the auction house.

One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe props that has made its way to the market with the most documentation is the shield. Marvel Studios provided it as a raffle prize and auction item for a charitable organisation. Russell Bobbitt, Senior Prop Master at Marvel Studios, has inscribed a plaque on the shield.

According to Heritage Auctions’ executive vice president Joe Maddalena, the event is a huge one that is full of “magic and memories from wide-screen delights us as children to the modern masterpieces and superhero films and space operas that keep us going back to the big screen.”

The Goya Model F-19 six-string acoustic guitar used by Julie Andrews’ Maria in one of the most cherished scenes from The Sound of Music, when she gathers the Von Trapp children on the hilltop to teach them “Do-Re-Mi,” is also up for auction, along with the Grail Cup and Tablet from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Numerous costumes and props from Star Wars and Star Trek are also included in this auction.

The white bikini worn by Ursula Andress as she emerged from the water in a famous scene for the first James Bond film, Dr. No, is one of the most recognizable costumes at this event.

In 2001, this item brought nearly $150,000 at auction. Other notable outfits to be auctioned off in December include those worn by Marilyn Monroe’s Elsie in the 1957 film The Prince and the Showgirl, Kate Winslet’s Rose in the chiffon dress she wore as the Titanic sank, and Jack, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, in the same film.

Costumes and props from the DC Universe have been added to the collection, including Christian Bale’s cowl from Batman Begins, Helen Slater’s Supergirl from 1984, and a miniature Batwing model from Tim Burton’s Batman.

The wardrobe block features Charlton Heston’s robe from The Ten Commandments, Dick Van Dyke’s brightly striped jacket from the “Jolly Holiday” scene in Mary Poppins, Morgan Freeman’s prison garb from The Shawshank Redemption, and Russell Crowe’s six-piece Roman General costume and helmet from Gladiator.

The well-known 1986 John Hughes movie, the Ferris Buller’s Day Off prop Ferrari 250 GT California, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1991 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Herbie the Love Bug itself, a modified 1973 Volkswagen Beetle used in Herbie Goes Bananas, are just a few of the well-known rides available at this event.
