Meesha Shafi’s bank accounts frozen by FBR.
Meesha Shafi, a well-known singer and actress, has had her bank accounts blocked by the Federal Board of Revenue.
According to reports in the local media, FBR froze Shafi’s accounts at the Faisal Bank branch in Lahore’s DHA Z Block because the singer failed to list the house she purchased in DHA in 2015 as one of her assets.
It was discovered that the singer, who was registered with FBR under the name Meera Parvez Shafi, was an FBR defaulter of almost Rs 2.1 million in income tax.
The FBR, however, monitored her property and assessed taxes on it. FBR has already obtained $0.3 million and $28,000 from Misha Shafi’s accounts. According to a media outlet quoting its sources, “Accounts were stopped on the instructions of Commissioner Inland Revenue Jibran Masroor.”
Inspector Saqib Khokhar, Mohammad Farooq, and SA Two Commissioner Arshad Ali Sheikh made up the retrieval team at the same time.
However, the legal dispute between Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi has changed course after Zafar’s attorneys asked for the establishment of a government-level medical board to look into the health of the couple.
According to the Rockstar singer’s attorney, Shafi has spinal issues that are now being diagnosed, and the neurosurgeon has urged Misha to take a two- to three-week break from work. Meesha Shafi requested a leave of absence, but Ali Zafar’s attorneys opposed and suggested that if Meesha truly had an issue, a formal board should be established.
