Imran Khan, Pervaiz Elahi agree to challenge Mohsin Naqvi’s appointment

LAHORE: Former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi called on PTI Chairman Imran Khan and discussed the political situation in the province.

Senior PTI leaders including Asad Umar, Azam Swati and Fawad Chauhdry were also present on the occasion. They discussed the upcoming elections in Punjab and other political matters.

During the meeting, both leaders agreed to challenge the appointment of Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, sources revealed. It was also decided to approach the court tomorrow on Mohsin Naqvi’s case.

Both leaders have completed legal consultations with lawyers and party leaders. Lawyer Ahmed Owais gave a briefing regarding the complete constitutional and legal provisions.

Imran Khan also discussed the upcoming elections and other issues with Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. The PTI also briefed Pervaiz Elahi about its protest plan. They expressed concern over the appointments made by the caretaker chief minister in the province.

It must be mentioned that the PTI also rejected the nomination of Mohsin Naqvi as caretaker chief minister. The party also held a protest outside the provincial election commission against the appointment.

The PML-Q rejected the nomination of Mohsin Naqvi as the interim minister and said they will approach the courts against the nomination by the election commission.

He said that Naqvi is a controversial person who cannot remain impartial and they will not accept him for the post. He said Naqvi had agreed to voluntary returns with NAB and cannot hold public office.
