Rita Ora herself declared that she was no longer available. The 32-year-old pop artist revealed that she and her partner Taika Waititi got married in an interview with Heart Radio Breakfast to promote her new single, “You Only Love Me.”

The announcement comes five months after a source told CNN that the couple wed in a “very tiny” ceremony and after Waititi and Ora looked to be wearing wedding bands on social media, which fueled marriage speculations.

“Yes. Here we are,” Ora said when asked if she was married. “They say everything happens for a reason. I am officially off the market, people!”

When Ora published a picture of them cuddling in April 2021, the relationship between the singer and the director was first made public. “Good times, memories, strange things on my phone and the ones I love,” was written beneath the picture.

Ora went into more detail about the “beautiful” wedding in her most recent radio interview, stating that it was “absolutely, exactly as I wanted it.” Ora saw the proposal as more of a “let’s just go for it” moment, whereas the wedding was all she had hoped for with her spouse.

“It was just nice and perfect,” Ora said. “Completely how I wanted it — just to myself sometimes. It was really sweet… Sorry, it’s not that interesting! One day I will throw a big party. I will figure out the time to have a big, big party.”

Ora revealed that her upcoming LP is her method of addressing the speculations surrounding their union in song. She added that she has not yet decided if she wants to adopt the Waititi last name. The music video for her lead single, “You Only Love Me,” which was released on Friday, features Sharon Stone, Kristen Stewart, Lindsay Lohan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Chelsea Handler, Addison Rae, Alexander Stewart, and Jodie Turner-Smith.

“When the rumors came out is she, isn’t she? I wanted to play on it,” she shared. “I wanted to do a wedding that didn’t go to plan… that’s not to say that is actually what happened… I’ve chosen to keep it more private this sort of experience I had more, but I did want to play on what could have been. So this is what I’m giving to the public on what could have been.”

A press release depicts the wedding in Ora’s latest music video for “You Only Love Me” as a combination of Alice in Wonderland and Stepford Housewives. The vibrant video ends in a real conflagration and is as chaotic as a wedding day can be. According to her, Ora’s wedding day didn’t exactly go as planned, but she hopes that this new age still captures her as she “entered a new part of life.”

The journey was not always easy, but I’ve come out of it stronger and filled with more love than I ever thought possible, Ora said in a release. “Learning to let go of the past to make way for new experiences is a deeply personal process, and one I felt compelled to document through my music,” Ora said.

The third studio album by Ora will be her first release since Phoenix in 2018. Release information is still pending.
