Journalist organizations strongly condemn the arrest of Shoaib Shaikh

• SG PFUJ said preparations are being made to impose ban on Bol News.
• He warned that any kind of ban on Bol News will not be tolerated.
• President KUJ said that actions against media houses is not unacceptable.

KARACHI: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) have strongly condemned the arrest of Bol News Co-Chairman Shoaib Shaikh.

Secretary General of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Rana Azeem said that the journalist community strongly condemns the arrest of Bol News Co-Chairman Shoaib Shaikh.
He said that the arrest of Shoaib Shaikh is an attack on the freedom of the press.

He said preparations are being made to impose restrictions on Bol News under a conspiracy. He warned that any kind of ban on Bol News will not be tolerated.

Condemning the arrest of Bol News co-chairman Shoaib Shaikh, the Sindh Journalists Council said that the arrest of Shoaib Sheikh by FIA has given a message to the media.

The Sindh Journalists Council said that journalists consider the federal government’s action against Bol News after ARY to be tantamount to curtailing freedom of expression. He said such arrests will create more anarchy in the country and the federal government should avoid such practices.

On the other hand, the Balochistan Union of Journalists also condemned the arrest of Shoaib Shaikh and said that the government is causing disrepute to the country by taking continuous actions against journalists and media organizations.

President of Balochistan Union of Journalists Irfan Saeed said that the government’s anti-media actions are causing concern among the workers of Bol TV and the journalist community.

The Karachi Union of Journalists also strongly condemned the arrest of Bol TV co-chairman Shoaib Shaikh.
