Late Pakistani actor Qavi Khan laid to rest in Canada
On Monday, the renowned TV and movie actor Qavi Khan was laid in the Canadian province of Ontario. According to reports in the local media, the Andhera Ujala actor’s funeral prayers were held at a mosque in Mississauga; he was later buried in Meadowvale Cemetery. A Lollywood icon who acted in nearly 200 movies passed away on Sunday at the age of 80 while he was receiving cancer treatment in Canada.
Qavi Khan’s relatives, friends, and other members of the Pakistani community, including the actors Shahid Hameed and Mehmood Akhtar, attended the memorial prayers, which were led by Mufti Abdul Qayyum.
Imran Khan, President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other notable politicians sent their condolences for Qavi Khan’s passing on Monday. With a four-decade-long career, Khan was one of the most admired and revered actors in the nation.
Khan has received recognition for his outstanding work in the field through the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Nigar Awards, and Pride of Performance awards. Khan, a Peshawar native who began acting in the 1960s, appeared in a wide range of well-known TV dramas, including “Dhoop Kinare,” “Ankahi,” “Tanhaiyan,” and “Humsafar,” among many others. He appeared in over 200 movies and was also well-known in Pakistani theatre.
