
ECP issue non-bailable arrest warrant for Fawad Chaudhry in contempt case
- Fawad’s assistant counsel requested to adjourn the case.
- Election Commission rejected the plea of lawyer.
- Hearing adjourned till July 28.
The Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday issued non-bailable arrest warrant for ex-PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry in ECP contempt case.
A five-member commission headed by the Chief Election Commissioner heard the case.
Fawad’s assistant counsel appeared before the ECP and requested the court to adjourn the case.
Official of Islamabad Police stated that he went to Fawad’s residence to execute the warrant, where Faisal Chaudhry met them.
Fawad’s brother said that there are political cases against him, but we have not found them either, said the ICT official.
ECP inquired whether Fawad has come today or not. ECP member stated that Fawad Chaudhary has not come himself nor has he applied for an exemption.
Fawad’s lawyer requested ECP to adjourn the case stating that the High Court will decide on the case in a couple of days.
ECP rejected the plea of Fawad’s counsel and issued a non-bailable arrest warrant in a contempt case.
ECP adjourned the case hearing till July 28.
