In the world of motorcycle enthusiasts, innovation knows no bounds. Today, we delve into the realm of a Yamaha YBR owner who has transformed his 2018 model into a turbocharged marvel, elevating its performance to new heights.

Make, Model, and Variant:

The spotlight is on a 2018 Yamaha YBR, initially priced at 134,000 PKR, now a canvas of modifications and passion. Purchased at the beginning of 2023, this bike has become the embodiment of its owner’s fervor for the two-wheeled adrenaline rush.

Modifications that Turned Heads:

The heart of this project lies in the conversion from a high-compression engine to a turbocharged powerhouse sourced from a Japanese 660CC car. The metamorphosis continued with the addition of an oil cooler for the turbo, a hydraulic oil pump, an intercooler pipe housing, a DC motor, a belt-driven pulley, and a fuel jet. These modifications collectively gave the Yamaha YBR a significant performance boost.

Future Ventures Unveiled:

Looking ahead, the owner has ambitious plans for further enhancements. An Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system and a PG30, borrowed from a 200CC loader rickshaw engine, are on the horizon. These additions are expected to fine-tune the bike for even more thrilling rides in the future.

Top Speed and Weight Dynamics:

Despite the 15 kg increase in weight due to the modifications, the turbocharged Yamaha YBR now boasts a top speed of 120 km/h. The turbocharger comes into play at extreme RPMs, delivering an exhilarating burst of power.

Project Cost and Maintenance Realities:

Undertaking such a project requires both financial investment and commitment. The entire transformation, from profile modifications to installations, incurred a cost of approximately 100,000 PKR. However, with great power comes added responsibility; the maintenance cost has seen an uptick from 1500 to 2500 PKR due to frequent turbo oil changes.

The Sonic Signature:

While the Yamaha YBR project may still be a work in progress, its cat-back exhaust noise stands out as a testament to its sporty nature. The distinctive growl adds an auditory dimension to the overall riding experience, making it a standout feature.

Encouraging Innovation:

PakWheels extends a call to all ingenious minds to step forward and share their hands-on experiences in the world of automotive projects. This Yamaha YBR transformation serves as a beacon, showcasing the potential for enthusiasts to push the boundaries of conventional biking.
