World fails to protect human lives in Gaza, says Dr Jamil Khan
KARACHI: The United Nations, European Union, Muslim countries, and the rest of the world have utterly failed to protect the valuable lives of thousands of people in Gaza.
The Israeli government and its military forces have been killing innocent babies, children, women, men, and elders for more than a month but the UN is unmoved and has not stopped the genocide in Gaza.
Just like the Western countries, their media tells lies throughout the day and tries to misguide the world. The President of the United States of America claimed that Israel is exercising its rights of self-defense but this is an attempt to wipe out Palestinian people from their homeland.
These views were expressed by the former Ambassador Dr Jameel Ahmed Khan while addressing a session on “Gaza War in Regional and Trans Regional Context” held at the M. A. Rangoonwala Auditorium of the Applied Economics Research Centre of the University of Karachi on Thursday.
He informed the audience that the world has always been misguided by the West and its media whenever any issue regarding Palestine comes to the surface. He mentioned the claim that Palestinian people sold their homes and lands to the Israelis when they came back to this territory some seven decades ago. He added that the fact is that the Israelis had massacred more than 50, 000 to occupy their lands and still killing and removing Palestinians from their lands.
Dr Jamil Khan said that the Arab countries have kept silent on such important issues because of their interest in petrol dollars. The current rulers of Islamic countries cannot go against the West.
He shared that in the meeting between the American and Chinese presidents held yesterday, only mutual interests were discussed, while issues like the Palestine-Israel war were ignored.
Dr Jamil Khan shared that 120 countries voted in favor of the resolution presented for the ceasefire in Gaza in the United Nations, and only 14 countries opposed the ceasefire resolution.
Meanwhile, the keynote speaker, Prof Dr Riaz Ahmed Shaikh said that Israel claims that it will take back control of Gaza, and asked to think about what will be the future of 2.3 million Palestinians after it went under the control of Israel.
KU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi lamented that local media has failed to give a true picture of the affected Palestine and expressed that the West is not raising voices to stop the violence and war with immediate effect.
