
SHCC makes process easier to get provisional license for HCEs
KARACHI: Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has made the process easier to get a provisional license for healthcare establishments (HCEs).
This was decided in 64th Board of Commissioners (BoC) meeting convened by Dr Khalid Shaikh, Chairman (BoC) of SHCC at Karachi.
During the meeting, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) SHCC Dr Ahson Qavi Siddiqi presented the current registration and licensing process for healthcare establishments (HCEs), noting that the prolonged procedure deterred General Practitioners (GPs) from seeking SHCC licenses.
The Board reviewed the process and new proposal for the provisional license (PL) and approved minimal service delivery standards for GP clinics, facilitating easy compliance for PL. Dr. Khalid Shaikh emphasized the use of modern training methods to conserve resources.
The BoC sanctioned the process of online training for practitioners before issuing PL to cut the long queue.
Dr Abdul Ghafoor Shoro, convener of the Anti-quackery Committee, shared that teams were instructed to lodge FIRs against those unlawfully unsealing HCEs without the official process.
Dr Ghulam Rasool Shah convener of the Accounts and Finance Committee, presented the position of a six-month budget and expenses with the proposal for re-appropriating unutilized funds to other accounts.

The Board accepted and approved the proposed re-appropriation. The CEO informed the BoC that recruitment through the National Testing Service (NTS) had commenced for vacant positions, ensuring a qualified and competent workforce following the directions and approval of the Board.
