Abu Dhabi Police strongly warns against sunroofs misuse
The Abu Dhabi Police have strongly cautioned drivers against passengers protruding from windows or sunroofs, threatening severe penalties for those who violate this risky conduct.
The police department utilized social media platforms to notify drivers about the hazards associated with such behaviors and emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to safety regulations.
Participating in such activities may lead to severe consequences, including a substantial fine of Dh2,000, a 60-day vehicle impoundment, and the addition of 23 traffic points to the driver’s record. Such reckless conduct not only endangers the lives of those inside the vehicle but also poses a significant threat to other road users.
Earlier this month, Dubai Police released a troubling video showing children sitting on the roofs of moving cars and leaning out of windows. Additionally, the authority announced that vehicle owners would be required to pay an extra Dh50,000 to retrieve their impounded vehicles.
