The iPhone 16 is anticipated to update its long-standing main camera design, possibly adopting a vertically stacked dual-camera setup akin to Samsung smartphones.

Numerous reports have already mentioned this new main camera layout, and now an image purportedly showing an iPhone 16 chassis has surfaced. Shared by a tipster known as ‘Majin Bu’ on X, the image offers a glimpse of the potential vertically stacked design.

The information isn’t just from the X tipster; multiple sources accessible to MacRumors have corroborated it. These sources affirm that this chassis is, indeed, intended for the primary camera of the “I-34” camera project, which is designed for the standard iPhone 16 model set for release in September.

Moving to a vertical camera layout could enable Apple to incorporate spatial video recording capabilities into both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. This functionality upgrade is probably the main reason for the design alteration, rather than an abrupt admiration for Samsung’s design choices.

Like the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, the iPhone 16 lineup is anticipated to feature an Action Button that users can customize for different functions, like a camera shutter or alert slider. Additionally, there might be a dedicated capture button on the device’s right side, equipped with force-sensor technology.
