Islamabad, Rawalpindi Weather Forecast: Hailstorm, rain, snowfall anticipated
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts rain, wind, thunderstorms, isolated hailstorms, and hill snowfall in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other areas of Pakistan from Sunday evening or night through Tuesday.
According to the current synoptic situation, a westerly wave is expected to move into Balochistan on Sunday night, followed by its likely impact on the northern regions of Pakistan by Monday.
In these circumstances, the twin cities, Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Photohar region, Kashmir, and adjacent hilly areas are expected to experience rain, wind, thunderstorms with occasional heavy downpours, isolated hailstorms, and snowfall over the hills from Sunday evening/night and continuing for the following two days.
Snowfall might lead to road closures in northern Balochistan. Heavy snowfall may result in flash flooding in local streams and nullahs in Gwadar, Ketch, Panjgur, and Awaran districts on Monday. Traffic disruptions are anticipated in Murree, Galyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli on Monday evening/night and Tuesday due to snowfall. Furthermore, wind thunderstorms could potentially cause damage to vulnerable structures like electric poles and solar panels.
Islamabad is expected to have a minimum temperature ranging between 03 and 05 degrees Celsius on Monday and between 04 and 06 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
Rawalpindi is forecast to experience minimum temperatures ranging from 06 to 08 degrees Celsius on Monday and from 07 to 09 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
