The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted additional rain, wind, and thunderstorms for Quetta, Gwadar, and portions of Balochistan on Wednesday evening/night, Thursday, and Friday.

According to the synoptic situation, a strong westerly wave is expected to approach the western regions of Pakistan on February 29 (Thursday), potentially encompassing most parts of the country by March 01 (Friday) and persisting until March 02 (Saturday).

In light of these conditions, cloudy weather with rain, wind, and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over the hills, is anticipated in northern and southern Balochistan on Wednesday evening/night.

On Thursday and Friday, heavy rainfall, accompanied by wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall over the hills, is predicted in various areas including Nokkundi, Dalbandin, Chagi, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Turbat, Kech, Gwadar, Jiwani, Pasni, Ormara, Panjgur, Kharan, Noushki, Washuk, Mastung, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musakhel, Kohlu, Jhal Magsi, Loralai, Ziarat, Quetta, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, and Qila Saifullah. Isolated hailstorms are also possible during this period.

Heavy rainfall could result in flash flooding in local nullahs of Gwadar, Ketch, Turbat, Panjgur, Awaran, Barkhan, Kohlu, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Dalbandin, Khuzdar, and Dera Ghazi Khan on Thursday and Friday (February 29-March 01).

Quetta is expected to see minimum temperatures ranging between 03-05 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 04-06 degrees Celsius on Friday, while Gwadar is likely to experience minimum temperatures between 17-19 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 18-20 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Over the past 24 hours, Quetta, Gwadar, and other parts of Balochistan experienced rainfall of varying intensities. Notably, Jiwani received 137 mm of rain, Gwadar 125 mm, Quetta, Sibbi, and Pasni 02 mm each, and Khuzdar 01 mm. The heavy rains disrupted normal life by causing flash flooding in local nullahs and urban flooding in Gwadar and other residential areas.

Kalat registered the lowest temperature in the province at 02 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 61 percent during the morning. In Quetta, the minimum temperature was recorded at 03 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 81 percent during the morning. Gwadar recorded a minimum temperature of 17 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 90 percent during the morning.
