SP martyred in exchange of firing with terrorists in Mardan
PESHAWAR: Superintendent of Police (SP) Ijaz Khan was martyred and three others sustained injuries in exchange of firing in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesman, there was an exchange of fire between the police and the terrorists in Mardan’s Katlang tehsil, during which SP Ijaz Khan was martyred by the firing of the terrorists.
The spokesperson said that two officials including deputy superintendent of police (DSP) were seriously injured due to firing by terrorists who were shifted to the hospital for medical assistance while two wanted terrorists were killed in police firing.
According to police sources, an intelligence-based operation was conducted against terrorists in Mardan, in which the most wanted terrorist Mohsin Qadir was killed by the police.
On the other hand, the funeral prayer of Shaheed SP Ijaz Khan was offered in Police Lines in which DPO Mardan and other police officials attended.
Earlier, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) while conducting seven operations across the country managed to recover over one ton of drugs and arrested nine accused.
ANF spokesman informed that 1 kg of Ice drug and 766 grams of heroin were recovered from the possession of a passenger going to Bahrain at Faisalabad Airport. 969 grams of Ice was recovered from a passenger going to Doha at Peshawar Airport.
