Asad Toor sent to jail on judicial remand
ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Magistrate rejected journalist Asad Toor’s plea for further physical remand and sent him to jail on judicial remand.
In the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad, the review application on the physical remand of journalist Asad Toor was heard, during which the Federal Investigation Agency(FIA) prosecutor said in the sessions court that according to the PICA Act, physical remand of 30 days can be taken, and Asad Toor’s further physical remand required.
Sessions Court Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra questioned whether the judicial magistrate had given physical remand to Asad. To this, the FIA prosecutor replied that the judicial magistrate said to produce in your court first.
The judge said that ask the judicial magistrate to order from his mind and he will decide on the revision petition on his account.
Judge Tahir Abbas reserved the decision on Asad’s revision petition.
On the other hand, during the hearing in the court of Judicial Magistrate Shabir Bhatti, the FIA prosecutor said that the electronic devices had to be recovered illegally and wanted to take another 4-day physical remand of the accused.
Rejecting FIA’s request for physical remand, the judicial magistrate remanded Asad Toor to jail on judicial remand and directed him to appear before the court on March 22.
