The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued warnings of another bout of heavy rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms expected to hit various regions within the next twelve hours. The affected areas include Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper/southwestern Balochistan.

This weather forecast, attributed to a strong westerly wave sweeping across the country, is anticipated to persist for at least 36 hours. The Met Office has specifically highlighted the likelihood of heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, in these regions.

Looking ahead, the PMD’s weekly forecast indicates a continuation of unsettled weather patterns, with rain and thunderstorms expected in upper and southwest Sindh on April 18 and 19.

For April 18, the PMD predicts high chances of rain, windstorms, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms in several regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab, Balochistan, and upper/southwest Sindh. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in specific areas such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeast Balochistan, and northeast Punjab, with the potential for hailstorms during this period. Furthermore, snowfall is forecast over high mountains in northern areas, adding to the diverse weather conditions across the country.

Given these forecasts, the PMD advises residents and authorities in the affected regions to take necessary precautions and remain vigilant, particularly in areas prone to flooding, landslides, and other weather-related hazards. Travelers are urged to stay updated on weather advisories and exercise caution during their journeys.
