Pink Bus Service Karachi: Routes, Schedule, and Fares, 2024
Karachi, with its sprawling population exceeding 20 million, faces an ongoing challenge to improve public transportation. Over the years, the city has witnessed the launch of various transformative projects aimed at enhancing mass transit, including the Green Line BRT, Abdul Sattar Edhi Orange Line, Peoples Bus Service, and Electric Bus Service.
Among these initiatives, a groundbreaking move by the Sindh government introduces Pakistan’s first women-centric transport project in Karachi, the “Peoples Pink Bus Service.” This innovative transportation system is set to revolutionize the lives of countless citizens, particularly women, by providing safe, accessible, and reliable transit options.
Initially starting with one route, the People’s Pink Bus Service has expanded to cover three major routes, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the city.
These routes traverse through significant landmarks and key areas of the city, facilitating convenient travel for commuters.
To further enhance women’s accessibility and safety in public transport, the Sindh Government has announced the introduction of two new routes, R3 and R9, for the Pink Bus service in Karachi. Additionally, to encourage women to utilize these new routes, the government is offering two months of free travel on R3 and R9.
The Pink Bus Service operates from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, ensuring commuters have convenient access to transportation throughout the day. During peak hours, buses arrive every 20 minutes at designated stops, while outside of peak times, each route is serviced by a bus every hour. Moreover, with a minimum ticket price of just PKR 50 per person for each route, the Pink Peoples Bus Service prioritizes affordability, making it an attractive option for passengers from all walks of life.
The introduction of Karachi’s Women-Centric Pink Bus Service signifies a significant step forward in improving public transportation, promoting inclusivity, and enhancing the quality of life for residents. As the service continues to expand and evolve, it promises to become an indispensable part of Karachi’s urban infrastructure, catering to the diverse needs of its populace while championing the cause of women’s safety and empowerment in public spaces.
