Currently, users can react to status updates using suggested emojis or by selecting an emoji from the keyboard UI. However, reports indicate that WhatsApp is exploring the possibility of introducing a one-tap “like” button, similar to Instagram, to enable quick reactions to status updates.

In the latest beta version of WhatsApp, a new toggle switch called “Like reactions” has been spotted in the Notification Settings section. Enabling this feature would trigger push notifications whenever a friend reacts to one of your status updates with a like.
