ISLAMABAD:  The federal government on Thursday formed a new cabinet committee related to the Faizabad sit-in case.

The committee will recommend that a new commission should be formed to investigate the Faizabad sit-in or not. The cabinet committee will give its recommendations in two weeks.

According to the notice issued by the Cabinet Division, if the committee recommends the formation of a new commission, it will also determine the Terms of References (ToR). The Cabinet Committee will be headed by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar.

The Interior Minister, Establishment Division Minister, Attorney General and Secretary will be the members of the Law Committee.

Earlier, federal cabinet, with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in the chair expressed its dissatisfaction over a report of an Inquiry Commission into Faizabad sit-in (dharna) by observing that the commission had not adhered to its Terms of Reference (ToR).

The meeting directed to constitute a special committee of the cabinet that would submit its recommendations in this regard.

The Attorney General for Pakistan submitted an inquiry report over the matter and gave a detailed briefing to the cabinet.
