Heatwaves are likely to develop in Karachi, Hyderabad, and most parts of Sindh with day temperatures rising 4 to 6°C above normal from May 21 to May 23.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), these heatwaves will intensify to severe heatwaves, with temperatures 6 to 8°C above normal from May 23 to May 27.

The synoptic situation indicates a shallow westerly wave prevailing over the upper parts of Pakistan, which is expected to persist for the next 24 hours.

Consequently, hot and dry weather is anticipated in Karachi, Hyderabad, and most districts of Sindh on Sunday evening/night, Monday, and Tuesday, with gusty winds or windstorms expected in the afternoons.

In Karachi, maximum temperatures are projected to range between 37-39°C on Monday and 38-40°C on Tuesday. In Hyderabad, maximum temperatures are forecasted to be between 44-46°C on Monday and 45-47°C on Tuesday.

Over the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather has prevailed in Karachi, Hyderabad, and most districts of Sindh. Nawabshah was the hottest place in the province, recording a maximum temperature of 49°C, with morning relative humidity at 44 percent.

In Karachi, the maximum temperature was 40°C, with morning relative humidity at 68 percent. In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature was 45°C, with morning relative humidity at 34 percent.
