ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has ordered the Sindh government to take decisive action against individuals involved in kidnapping in the province’s riverine regions.

He instructed the Sindh Chief Minister to ensure that police officers are given appropriate terms and are held accountable for their performance.

President Asif Ali Zardari has directed authorities concerned to take effective steps to control street crimes in Sindh especially Karachi.

Addressing a meeting in Karachi on Sunday, he also directed Sindh Chief Minister to complete all ongoing development projects in the province at the earliest including the Ghotki-Kandhkot Bridge.

The President was briefed about operations against dacoits in Katcha areas, street criminals and drug peddlers.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and other officials.

Zardari emphasized that if police officers fail to meet expectations, they should be transferred. Additionally, he made it clear to the Chief Minister that he has a zero-tolerance policy towards land grabbing and will not tolerate any illegal occupation of land.

Furthermore, Zardari ordered the Chief Minister to implement enhanced security measures for Chinese nationals. He assured the Sindh government of providing all necessary resources and weaponry from the federal government.

The President instructed the Federal Interior Minister to facilitate the procurement of weapons and other essential resources for the Sindh government.

During the meeting, Senior Provincial Minister for Excise and Narcotics Sharjeel Memon briefed the president on the operations of his ministry.

Federal Minister and MQM Chief Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui commended President Zardari for convening a meeting to address the law and order situation in Sindh.

Siddiqui noted that holding such meetings in Karachi would instill confidence in the populace.
