LAHORE:  The Punjab Government has closed all schools in the province for 7 days following the predication of a heatwave in the province.

In a statement issued by the Government of Punjab, it has been said that due to the heat wave, the schools of Punjab have been immediately closed from May 25 to May 31.

According to the announcement, a 7-day holiday has been announced in schools due to the heat wave in Punjab, all public and private schools will remain closed from May 25 to 31.

On the other hand, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert related to heat waves in which the fear of heat waves has been expressed in Punjab from May 21 to 27.

The spokesperson of PDMA said that during the wave of heat wave, plain areas, especially southern Punjab, will remain in the grip of intense heat.

The spokesperson of PDMA also said that safety measures are being taken to prevent heat waves. The Deputy Commissioners(DCs)  have been directed to ensure heat wave protection facilities in public places. The health department has also canceled leaves of doctors and paramedics staff. 

On the other hand, Class 9th and 10th exams have been postponed in Karachi due to possible heat waves.

According to the announcement of the Board of Secondary Education, there will be no matric board papers between May 21 and 27, the notification of which has also been issued.

On the orders of the Minister for Education Boards and Universities, the Matriculation Board Karachi exams have been postponed and now the Matric Board exams will be held from May 28 as per the schedule.

It should be noted that earlier the Intermediate exams were postponednow the Inter exams will start on May 27 instead of May 22.

It should be noted that the plains of Punjab and Sindh are in the grip of intense heat and a heatwave alert has also been issued by the Meteorological Department.
