PESHAWAR: At least three people including former Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) senator Hidayat Ullah were killed in a remote control blast in Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the police, the explosion was carried out by a remote control device in Damadola area of Bajaur.
The police said that the car of former senator Hidayat Ullah was targeted in the blast, as a result of which 3 people including the former senator were killed.
Malik Irfan, Malik Nazruddin of the Mamond tribes are among those who died along with the former senator.
Police said that Hidayat Ullah had gone to Duma Dola for his nephew’s election campaign in PK 22 and on his way back to Khar after the election campaign, Hidayatullah’s car was targeted.
Officials said that Hidayat Ullah was the son of former Member National Assembly(MNA) Haji Bismillah Khan and brother of former governor Shaukatullah. He was an independent senator from 2012 to 2018 and from 2018 to 2024.
Hidayat Ullah has also been the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Aviation, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
Malakand Regional Police Officer Muhammad Ali Khan Gandapur confirmed the deaths and added that former senator’s car was targeted in an attack in Bajaur’s Damadola area.
On the other hand, President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the deaths of Hidayatullah, a former senator and several other people who lost their lives in a remote-controlled bomb blast in Bajaur.
The president condemning the terrorist incident, expressed condolences with the bereaved families.
